As the spring season approaches its finale, Vincentia Sailing Club proudly hosted the OK Dinghy NSW State Championships, with three races set for both Saturday and Sunday. A dedicated team of VSC members was on hand to volunteer and ensure the event ran smoothly, making for an impressive regatta by any standard. The action didn’t stop there, though, as Sunday morning saw the VSC grom squad hit the water, determined to keep the energy alive.

With Rennie and Marc whipping up delights in the clubhouse kitchen, Paddy took the helm of *Tuffy*, leading a squad of eager young sailors on Dragoons and Waves for an “ultimate challenge.” Eddie and Andy took charge on one Dragoon, while Fionbarr, Joelly, and Ollie teamed up on another. Meanwhile, Spinelli, Oliver, and Ava, along with Lottie, Grace, and Matt, boarded the Waves, ready for their mission.

Their task was no small feat: navigating a gusty south-westerly out to the 200m marker and back, with the added twist of rescuing two “stranded” fenders, dubbed Fred and Jeff, along the way. Points were awarded for being first across the finish line, and double points for a successful fender rescue followed by a finish.

The final results saw Eddie and Andy come out on top, claiming clear victory on the Dragoons. Joel and Rennie took a win, with Grace, Lottie, and Matt each earning four points for a well-executed rescue and finish.

With a strong nor’easter forecast for this weekend, excitement is building for the next Round the Bay Rally. Stay tuned for more thrills as we sail into summer!
