The third weekend of sailing on Jervis Bay was met with a vastly volatile, yet vibrant westerly blowing in from the hills. With Kiaran on the tools for an early lunch, Adrian and Howard took charge on the water as they banked three races around the cans for the VSC’s spring handicap.
Spinelli, Dobbo, Jakey, Rene, Jezza and Nigel all went to battle on the Hobie 14s, whilst Paddy & Violet, Doug & Troy and Mick, Joel & Evan took to the 16s as they battled the bullets coming off Collingwood Beach.
Jakey was sailing dominantly on the Hobie 14, with Spinelli nipping at his heels throughout the three heats. Sailing a 14 for the very first time, Nigel looked far more comfortable than he felt as he sent it around the race track with the veterans of the class. Taking inspiration from the Americas Cup, the Butler Boys were match racing each other on the Hobie 16s, with Violet and the Hodder boys keeping up with their antics with no trouble at all.
Tune in next week for the Hobie 14 coaching camp, taking place over Saturday and Sunday, including the VSC’s first single-handed championship.
