Last week, the east coast was lit up with over 6-metre waves hitting the coastline from the south-east. And with over 30+ knots of wind blowing along with it, there was only one craft that was up for the task … the humble Hobie 14. However, there were only two boys mad enough to take their boats out: Andrew Spinelli and Paddy Butler.
Only in the largest and deadliest bayswell does the Bombie (or now hypothesised sandbank) work to this level of perfection. There wasn’t a chance that the boys would’ve missed it. With many, many spectators on the shore watching with excitement, Tuesday 1st April 2025 is etched in history.
Paddy managed to sneak the on the forestay, whilst Courtney and MB were on shore with the midrange camera.
