It was another action-packed day at the VSC, filled with thrilling racing and plenty of camaraderie on and off the water. With Cookie taking charge of the start boat and Rennie jumping aboard to lend his expertise, the racing schedule kicked off right on time, catching a few latecomers by surprise—but there’s always next week to redeem yourself!

Dobbo & Jezza made waves on the Hobie 18, testing their skills and finding plenty of fun in the competitive fleet. Meanwhile, the Hobie 14 sailors brought out their “turbo” setups, adding jibs to their usual rigs in preparation for the upcoming state championships. Macca and Spinelli shared a lighthearted moment after a quick tack turned into a friendly bumper boats incident—proof that even seasoned sailors have something to laugh about.

Three exciting races kept everyone on their toes before a well-earned break onshore. As the sailors headed in for a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by Steven, a dramatic thunderstorm rolled in, reminding everyone of nature’s unpredictability. Thanks to the crew for ensuring everyone made it back safely in time to enjoy the feast.

With the afternoon’s breeze fading after the storm, racing was called off, giving everyone the chance to relax and swap stories. Egbert, always the strategist, stayed onshore for the second half of the day, no doubt enjoying his decision with a knowing smile.

The energy and enthusiasm around the club continue to build as we gear up for the NSW Hobie Cat State Championships next weekend. Whether you’re looking to compete, lend a hand, or just soak up the atmosphere, there’s no better time to be part of the VSC community. See you all on the water!
