What a tremendous way to spend Father’s Day down in Jervis Bay, a howling westerly, a brilliant lunch followed by the most ludicrous of Wave Challenges to finish the day.

Jamie & Violet brought their new Hobie 16 down to the club, rigging it up for the first time. Likewise, Marc & Eddie brought along their new whip with the anticipation of an afternoon yacht; however, both duos weren’t too lucky as the westerly continued to blow all day long. Shout out to MB who provided his expertise whilst the proud new owners sorted our their new toys.

With a 1230 start, both Dobbo and Adrian were set get Polly in the water ready to race; however, the exceptional decision was made to have lunch at midday. Thanks to Rebecca for throwing together some amazing salads, and to Violet, Liana, Joel and Ed for cooking on the BBQ.

After much contemplation, the decision was made to rig up the waves and run a round robin style Wave Challenge in teams of two. With 15 races in total, each team had the opportunity to verse one another once where the winners were determined by the total number of race wins. Liana & Paddy reigned supreme, with the former on the helm and the latter trimming the mainsail. Notable standouts included Rene & Joels iconic nosedive, along with a photo finish between Oliver & MB and Ava & Spinelli, where the latter snuck through on leeward to hit the sand first. Thanks to Steve and Nigel for keeping score, and to Jake for vigilantly watching from the grandstand, capturing the action on the water.

You’ll most definitely be seeing the wave challenge soon…
