It was a very strong nor’easterly seabreeze that greeted sailors for the sixth round of the VSC Twilight WaveGP Series. With the decision made to utilise older mainsails due to the strength of the breeze, it was set to be an exciting evening of racing.
A new format was trialled to great success, with relay racing making its WaveGP debut. This brand-new concept saw four teams evenly split by both numbers and talent, challenging one another throughout the afternoon in fast-paced and highly competitive racing.
Three relay races were held in the pumping conditions, with many new faces turning up for their very first taste of sailing at VSC. After three competitive yet entertaining relays, the winning team was Matthew, Steve, Kiaran, Jeremy and Ollie.
A huge shout-out to Matthew for feeding the fleet with a beautifully roasted beef brisket from Mountainside Meats. With roast beef and gravy rolls, cold beverages and sailing to wrap up the working week, it really doesn’t get much better than that.
