It was another sensational weekend of sailing at the Vincentia Sailing Club.

Friday kicked things off with a Women’s Social and Discover Sailing afternoon. With record numbers on the water, all six Hobie Waves and the Getaway were afloat, making the most of the calm conditions. Joel and River also got out on the Dragoon for some valuable time on the water ahead of the NSW Hobie Cat State Championships at Wangi Wangi next weekend. A big shout-out and thank you to Matthew and the boys for helping get all the boats rigged and ready on time, assisting on the water aboard Tuffy, and providing everyone with delicious lamb and gravy rolls — along with plenty of bubbly.

Sunday sailing began under drizzly skies. It had been several weeks since racing was held on a Sunday, and there was no better way to restart than with a double-handed club championship. A record number of boats took to the race track, with all four Waves on the start line alongside Joel and River on the Dragoon. Matt and Ollie were getting some valuable practice in before the State Championships on the Hobie 16 and were joined by Fionnbarr and Oliver sailing together for the first time. They were also joined by Egbert and Helen, along with Kieran on the Hobie 18.

The Hobie 14 fleet kept things interesting, with MB, Paddy, Adrian, and Dobbo ensuring the racing stayed tight throughout the day.

A big thank you to Lisa and Oli Lawson for cooking the BBQ, and to Doug and Jezza for jumping on Poly at the last minute to run the racing.

Next weekend will be social sailing on Sunday, as many of our dedicated sailors head north to Wangi Wangi on Lake Macquarie for the NSW Hobie Cat State Championships. Good luck to everyone racing!
