VSC’s morning started with a highly valued defibrillator & CPR refresh session, and we’d like to extend a HUGE thank-you to Colleen from South Coast First Aid for volunteering her time and expertise with us. Our members were very engaged with understanding basic life support in our sailing context, and now feel very well-equipped to respond! Thanks also to Lisa for coordinating the session.

Once the sails were finally up, and MB had made it back from delivering a 14 to Callala Beach, we launched into a very typical westerly. There isn’t too much to report, with a small fleet and gusts aplenty – you can probably fill in the blanks!

With only 14s and a couple of Waves running about, the start got underway in a very prompt manner. Macca & Bridget seemed to be the only ones wearing watches and made it to the start in a reasonable amount of time. Bridget did find herself in a shift that sent her into a full Hobie salute, and Fionnbarr scarcely escaped the falling mast.

MB trucked off on port, and Adrian, Steve, and Fionnbarr made it cleanly through their first tacks. Doug trucked around until he went over, then trucked a little bit more. Euan, for his first time on a 14, was flying along until his starboard cam rolled and he returned to shore. Rennie chased the kids around and just managed to keep up with Evan, Violet, Reece, and Joel (4-up on one boat was just enough to keep them moving!).

Much appreciation goes to Jake & Jeremy on the start boat, who were very responsive when 4 boats were upside down at once! Ellie’s salads were delicious, and Suzi (with Joel’s assistance) cooked the sausages to perfection.
